What’s Talking Therapy Anyway?

Talking Therapy is exactly what it sounds like, and more! It could involve talking about things in the present or the past, or talking about your worries about the future. It can be a way of making sense of things that have happened, and how those things have changed you and your life.

In a session we might…

Check in about how you’ve been, and how you feel in the here and now. I’ll ask what feels important to you today, and we might make a loose plan for the session. Online, we’ll spend most of our time talking, though we might also think about how feelings impact you physically. I might talk to you about psychological theories, or send you resources between sessions to help explain ideas that could help.

What if I struggle to recognise my feelings?

Some people can find it quite difficult to recognise the feelings they’re feeling. Sometimes we might have to do some work around naming and getting to know feelings, so that we can better understand the issue you’re bringing to therapy. It’s important to know that this isn’t unusual! Lots of people need help to connect with their emotions, and finding the right language for that can make a big difference in your life.
